DECISION GUIDE
Should You Buy a House or Build One?
Both are good decisions in the right circumstances. This is the honest version of the trade-off, not a sales pitch for either option.
OPTION A
Buy an Existing Property
- Faster occupancy — move in within weeks, not years
- You can inspect exactly what you're getting before you commit
- Established neighbourhood, road network and utilities already proven
- Limited or no control over layout, finishes and specification
- You inherit whatever defects the existing building has
OPTION B
Build on Your Own Land
- Full control over layout, room count, finishes and specification
- You choose the exact site and district that suits you
- New construction — no inherited wear, dated wiring or old plumbing
- Longer timeline from land to move-in — typically many months
- Requires active decisions throughout design and construction
